Extracting reliable data from the fetal MCG
نویسندگان
چکیده
Extracting reliable information from a fetal MCG measured before the 24 week of gestation is hampered due to the poor signal-to-noise ratio. Thence, the recorded signals need to be processed in order to separate noise and signal, and need to be displayed in such a way that a reliable diagnosis can be made. No signal processing can be performed without making assumptions on either noise or signal. These assumptions have to be chosen carefully so that they do not interfere with the diagnosis made.

A PCA/ICA based Fetal ECG Extraction from Mother Abdominal Recordings by Means of a Novel Data-driven Approach to Fetal ECG Quality Assessment
Background: Fetal electrocardiography is a developing field that provides valuable information on the fetal health during pregnancy. By early diagnosis and treatment of fetal heart problems, more survival chance is given to the infant. Objective: Here, we extract fetal ECG from maternal abdominal recordings and detect R-peaks in order to recognize fetal heart rate. On the next step, we find a be...
متن کاملReproducibility and reliability of fetal cardiac time intervals using magnetocardiography.
We investigated several factors which may affect the accuracy of fetal cardiac time intervals (CTI) determined in magnetocardiographic (MCG) recordings: observer differences, the number of available recording sites and the type of sensor used in acquisition. In 253 fetal MCG recordings, acquired using different biomagnetometer devices between the 15th and 42nd weeks of gestation, P-wave, QRS co...
متن کاملFetal autonomic brain age scores, segmented heart rate variability analysis, and traditional short term variability
Disturbances of fetal autonomic brain development can be evaluated from fetal heart rate patterns (HRP) reflecting the activity of the autonomic nervous system. Although HRP analysis from cardiotocographic (CTG) recordings is established for fetal surveillance, temporal resolution is low. Fetal magnetocardiography (MCG), however, provides stable continuous recordings at a higher temporal resolu...
متن کاملThe influence of fetoabdominal volume conduction on the fetal MCG
Fetal magnetocardiograms (MCG) can be measured non-invasively. From these measurements the duration of the various waves in the fetal cardiogram can be obtained as well as the fetal heart rate. Hence, the fetal MCG can, for instance, be used to classify arrhythmias. However, the amplitudes within the measured cardiogram depend on the fetoabdominal anatomy. For instance, the position of the meas...
متن کاملBeat-to-beat variability of T-wave in multichannel magnetocardiogram and 12-lead electrocardiogram during physiological interventions
The autonomic nervous system regulates cardiac function by modulating heart rate and cardiac contractility. Changes in sympathetic and parasympathetic activity have effects on the amplitude and duration of the cardiac action potentials and conduction velocity. So far, no studies have been published on changes in MCG caused by rapid autonomic adaptation. For clinical applications of MCG it is im...
